Is the art market immune to the recession?
Posted July 27th, 2010 by Patrick van der VorstIt is quite extraordinary to see how well the art market has performed over the last few months, with numerous records being broken and astonishing results being achieved.
It seems that not only modern and contemporary art seem to do and perform well, but that there is also a great return to the more traditional collecting categories such as silver, furniture and ceramics. In my opinion it is still a very good time to buy good bits of porcelain and furniture, but has a corner been turned and are these market also rising again? It seems to me that in times of recession people revert back to secure values and maybe antiques are seen as wise and sure investments…
What do you think?
